This Hill Partridge is found India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. They are habitat for the subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

These birds mainly prefer to eat Seeds, shoots, berries, insects, larvae and various invertebrates. They are searching their food from the leaf litter.

The female Hill Partridge birds are lay 3 or 5 but up to nine white eggs in the clutch. The incubation times of this bird is 24 days. Generally, breeding seasons of this birds are April and June.
